Stony Brook University LogoDear Homeowners:

Most of you are aware that Tony and I have been having meetings and correspondence with members of Stony Brook University, Supervisor Romaine, Councilwoman Cartright and her staff, and the town’s Law Department.

We’ve made considerable progress since these meetings began, however there is still more work to be done by all parties to reduce the number of illegal rental homes in our area.

At this time we’d like to share with you a letter written by Stony Brook University Dean of Students, Timothy Ecklund.

Tim has been at our meetings along with Joan Dickinson from the Office of University Communications and Michael Arens from the Government and Community Relations area. In addition the recently appointed Chief Deputy to SBU President Samuel L. Stanley, Judith Greiman has been attending our meetings.

We’re optimistic that with many of the activities that the university and the town are working on and the ongoing issues being addressed, it will relieve a good portion of the negative impact that off campus housing and illegal rentals have had on our neighborhood.

Please review Mr. Ecklund’s letter and report any student related issues that you are aware of to Joan Dickinson at joan.dickinson@stonybrook.edu or call her at 631 632-9117. As always, please contact us so we can follow up with SBU as necessary.

Thanks for your interest and support,

Bruce and Tony
