VILLAGE TIMES: After large college party, town summons Stony Brook landlord

1337_Stony_Brook_Rd_-_Google_MapsThe landlord of a Stony Brook Road house has been summoned to court on various health and safety violations, following a raucous college party that resulted in three arrests recently.

On April 12 around 3:30 pm, police responded to a massive party at 1337 Stony Brook Road, and arrested three men; Sebastian Bullock, 23 of Uniondale; Andrew George, 23, of Elmont; and Michael Ferron, 22 of Brooklyn. All three were charged with disorderly conduct, among other similar charges. A police helicopter was also dispatched to oversee the dispersal of the more-than-200-person crowd. According to Stony Brook University spokeswoman Laruen Sheprow, none of the men arrested were university students. Attorney information for the men was not available.

In a recent phone interview, Deputy Town Attorney Dave Moran and Supervisor Ed Romaine said the house’s landlord, Kerry Kimmins, was given six summonses for violations after investigators discovered the house allegedly had illegal interior locks, an accessory apartment, no smoke detectors, unpermitted alterations and various other safety issues. Kimmins, who could not be reached for comment, is scheduled to appear in Suffolk County District Court in Patchogue on June 12.

According to Moran, the town estimates that between eight to 10 people live at the house. Kimmins could pay up to $22,000 in fines, Romaine said.
